Adventure awaits.
Pulling into Gillbrook Farms on Saturday, Adam and I knew that’s what the day would hold. One, because Craig and Chelsea had put up a sign that told us so, and two, because they both have adventurous spirits.
The barn was full of mementos from their lives: Suitcases stocked with Penguins and Eagles paraphernalia, books they’ve loved, a well-worn T-shirt reading “It’s all about the journey,” a ukulele from Peru (where Chelsea spent some time volunteering), and multiple globes–one requesting that guests write out recommendations for where the couple’s next adventure should take them.
If the personalized decor items weren’t enough, every now and then we would catch a glimpse of their nieces skipping around the farm arm-in-arm, hair flying, bows flapping wildly in the breeze, and lacy flower-girl dresses flowing around them. A rather perfect display of unbridled wedding-day joy.
And Craig–Craig tried to hold back his tears during special moments, but it’s always a beautiful thing when the groom shows emotion on his wedding day. The first glimpse of his bride, her walk down the aisle on her dad’s arm, his dance with his mom…because of that emotion, you can’t argue that this guy CHERISHES Chelsea and their life together. It’s a super special thing, and when the groom cries…I cry. Gets me every time.
Another thing you can’t argue? These two were made for each other. The word “intentional” was tossed around at multiple times during the day to describe the two of them. And that word is on point, because it’s apparent that God had intention for this couple. Chelsea is intentional. She takes the time needed, makes an effort in everything she does, and everything she does has a purpose. Craig makes time, prepares well, and gives wholeheartedly to his efforts. Both of them are all-in in their ministries–Chelsea at Pregnancy Resource Clinic in State College, and Craig in his role as youth pastor at Zion Community Church in Bellefonte. It’s hard to think of any other couple I know where both individuals are so focused and passionate about what they are called to do, and so much FUN all at the same time.
Craig and Chelsea, wow. Your day spoke volumes about who you are as individuals and as a couple. I love your intention, your passion, your drive, and your zeal. You were given adventurous spirits very much on purpose, because the world needs people like you, and God knew it. You will not fail with him as your focus. So when that focus veers, or feelings of adventure turn to restlessness and boredom, when the experience doesn’t seem fun anymore, fix your eyes back on Jesus. And when one of you is down, be a rising tide. Lift each other up. Because as the old proverb says, ‘a rising tide lifts all boats’. It’s not always going to be perfect. You might need to reach for a lifeline…a purple headband perhaps…or maybe wise counsel from people you trust, prayer, scripture…because while it certainly won’t always be perfect, your effort and intention will always be WORTH IT.
Keep pressing on!

WoW…Meagan and Adam, how beautiful. Not only are your photos STUNNING, but you are incredibly perceptive, summing up Chelsea and Craig’s wedding day perfectly. Without doubt God intentionally matched these two servants. Praise be to our Lord and savior for this special union. And thank you for all the love and care you put into capturing their day. As part of the bridal party I can say you had great timing and we’re a joy to be around! Well done!
