“Well YEAH, she can come to brunch!”
Those were Robie’s dad’s words when Susan, Robie’s mom, pointed to Danielle from across the room and asked if she could “bring her friend from Bible study” to brunch with the three of them. Both parents were likely thinking the same thing. Dani was a great match for Robie.
And a mother knows best!
Dani, a mom herself, also found that Robie was awesome with Brayden, her son. So, after many “not dates” between she and Robie and volunteering together at kids’ camp, they slowly got to know each other and finally began “real” dates.
After a while and quite a few family hiking trips, Robie stashed a tiny box in Brayden’s backpack before they headed out to Musser Gap Trail in Central PA. Brayden was curious about what was in his pack, and even more suspicious about the goPro he was asked to wear. But, he loved to help, so no biggie and off they went. It was a foggy day with very low clouds, so when they reached Lion’s Valley Vista, the view wasn’t particularly…well…visible.
But although the sun didn’t sparkle, Robie’s eyes were twinkling away. And so was one more thing that he pulled from Brayden’s backpack. Robie knelt in the dimness of the surrounding clouds, the three of them seemingly alone in the silence, and asked Dani to be his wife.
Brayden, watching (and recording) the whole thing, repeated the same phrase over and over: “I knew it I knew it I knew it I knew it!”
On their wedding day, the intimate gathering of close family and friends at Zion Community Church in Bellefonte, PA could not keep their tears from spilling over. Neither could Robie as he watched Brayden proudly carry their unity candle to the front of the church, followed by Dani, his beautiful bride. As their families gathered to pray around them, the tears flowed freely for everyone.
Their reception at Above the Valley Event Center displayed their love of hiking, each table named for a trail the family has hiked together, the sweetheart table aptly named Lion’s Valley Vista.
Adam in particular loved that the couple had guests sign a mounted Purple Lizard Map that they will frame to display in their home (he tells EVERYONE he knows about those maps…he loves them that much! Robie reminded him that even this was his idea! Guys, I’m pretty sure that made his year!)
Dani and Robie, congrats you two. Brayden, congrats to YOU! You three make a wonderful family and we were so blessed to be part of your day!
