Who knew this tenth grade gym class crush would someday turn into a marriage?
Weston and Shelby certainly didn’t!
It started with the exchange of names and a few conversations, which lead to more conversations and the casual “wanna be my partner?” routine for choosing gym class teams. I’m sure their friends saw right through that one!
Being one year older, Weston graduated before Shelby, but that did not hinder their relationship in the least, and the two continued dating for four more years before they decided it was just TIME already!
Both attended different colleges in Philadelphia (still do!), but saw each other often, and they made plans to visit New York City at Christmastime in December 2018, followed by a trip to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA a couple of days later.
While in New York–and because they weren’t strangers to the conversation of getting married–they popped into a ring shop in the NYC Diamond District in Manhattan…on a whim? What say you, Weston?! 😉
Shelby fell in love with the perfect ring, and Weston bought it ON THE SPOT. Whoaaa. Let the anticipation begin!
So at Longwood Gardens just two days before Christmas, Weston was a little more preoccupied than usual. Shelby noticed a little, but figured he would wait longer to pop the question. He probably would at least wait a few weeks, right?
NOPE.
They reached a beautiful Christmas display in the center of the gardens, and he wouldn’t wait any longer.
Weston suddenly dropped to one knee.
Shelby’s eyes widened and her heart began to pound in her ears. Her mouth dropped open in complete surprise.
“Shelby, will you be my wife?”
A small crowd began to applaud and cheer as she emphatically said “YES!”
After four years, these two high school sweethearts are getting married! YAAAAYYYY!!!
Because they live in Philadelphia but they call Lancaster County home, we decided Lancaster City would be a great place for their session! The rooftop views were great near Penn Square, and after hitting up Central Market, we ended up at Prince Street Cafe for some much needed warmth and refueling! Love this shot Adam got through the window:
Weston and Shelby, we CANNOT wait for August! White Chimneys is going to radiate happiness on your wedding day, and we are so honored we get to be there to witness and capture it all. Much love and big hugs!
